This is for users that want to put additional programs in their Gnome Applications menu, but do not know how to do it.
I am using Ubuntu Jaunty 9.04.
I want to include a short cut to a program named "FoundationStone" in the Education section of Applications.
.) Navigate to System > Preferences > Main Menu.
.) The Main Menu opens.
.) Select the desired application heading, in this example, "Education" to high-light it.
.) Click on "+ New Item".
.) The "Create Launcher" window opens.
.) Select the Type, in this example, "Application"is selected.
.) Now enter whatever name you desire. I used "FoundationStone".
.) Now click on the "Browse..." button.
.) The "Choose an application" window opens.
.) Navigate to your desired folder, in this case, FoundationStone_4.0., and high-light it.
.) Open the folder by clicking "Open".
.) Now find the icon that starts the program, high-light it and click on open.
.) The "Create Launcher" window will again appear.
.) In the "Command" window, check to ensure the path to the program is now shown.
.) If desired, add a comment in the "Comment" window.
.) Click on "OK".
.) Check the "Applications" menu to ensure the new program is listed.

I am running Fedora13, and Main Menu is not an option under Preferences. How can I modify and add programs to the main menu without this option available?
