Rapidshare Downloads on Linux Tutorial

This tutorial is meant to be directed towards linux users, but this will work on Windows too!

I know many Rapidshare.com Premium Account users who use linux have been looking for an effective way to download multiple files simultaniously.

I have found a great solution!

Before I start, let me just say that the tools in this tutorial definetely deserve some sort of donation for their hard work! I am by no means affiliated with the developers of these tools... I simply believe that some open-source developers should be thanked the right way so that they are even more motivated to further improve their work.

Now on to the tutorial!!! :)

First you will need to install the following tools:

1. Firefox (http://www.mozilla.com/firefox)
2. FlashGot (http://FlashGot.net)
3. DownThemAll! (http://www.downthemall.net)

Now follow these steps:

FlashGot Configuration:
1. In Firefox: Go to the Tools > Add-ons
2. Click the Preferences Button under FlashGot
3. Choose DTA as your Download Manager

DownThemAll! Configuration:
1. In Firefox: Go to the Tools > Add-ons
2. Click the Preferences Button under DownThemAll!
3. Click the Filters Tab
4. In the "Caption" textbox type: "Rapidshare Downloads" (without these quotes)
5. In the "Filtered Extensions" textbox type: "http://rapidshare.com/files/*" (without these quotes)
6. Make sure that the "Links filter" is checked!

Finally open your Rapidshare links list (i.e. RSLinksToDownload.txt) in Firefox.
Highlight the links you want to download and go to Tools > FlashGot > Flashgot Selection

That's it!

You can easily view your download status by using the DownThemAll! Manager.

I hope this post has been helpful.

Remember: Even if you donate $3 to the developers, you'd be contributing to the evolution of open-source!

Yours truly,
PRoTo RoCKeR
