Hello everyone, my name is Jared, im not sure what to say so I thought I would explain what brought me to this site.
I am currently a senior in EE at Iowa State University with one semister left, as an out of school project I decided to build my own computer, partially because I needed an upgrade and partially because being a EE it seems like something I should know how to do (but must not be inportant enough to cover in our classes). I got this computer up and running about a week ago and am currently running windows 7 ultimate along with Kubuntu 11.04.
I was first introduced to linux about a year ago for my senior design project, were it seems they assume you know how to work your way around (this was an older red hat version). Though i started to get slightly familiar with the OS, I am far from comfortable to have it as the soul OS on this machine. I did, however enjoy how easy it was to program in the open sorce environment and wanted to give it a try.
Now I am trying to learn more about kubuntu and possibly start up my own projects but am not sure where to start and this seems like a good place to talk to others who have the same interest.
