Pros: Easy to install, Newbie Friendly Distribution.
Cons: Outdated at this time which leads to outdated packages and security updates.

This was an excellent version provided by Mandrake, with new and easy to use tools to configure your system, easy installation.

Though outdated now as they are on 9.1, this would be a great version to install on maybe an older system that isn't resource intensive or demanding newer/better hardware. I've installed this distro on an old Pentium 166 system without any flaws once before.

Given that there are later versions out there though at this time, I could only recommend to use this version again if your installing on maybe 400mhz or lower system.

Pros: awesome disk managment and old win2k interlopability
Cons: older pcs... works w/minimal ram/memory/133mghz processors

i used 7.1 (helium) and it came w/7 or more window managers (including enlightenment .16 (myfavorite, still to this day)).

it was a very nice install, and detected windows, was easily setup w/eth0 and also a great, light distro.

like you said above, its old, but for older pc,s its the absulute must have (or at least try)

my boss gave me his old laptop (in the 90s) and it wouldnt load windows anylonger.

not only did the boot loader of mandrake7.1 fix it, but in a week i brought it back and showed him a marilyn manson video in full screen, and said, i fixed it, you can use it again.

he already bought a new laptop, and gave me my 1st laptop ever.
really nice distro..

sorry i didnt add my own thread, but i think since its both the 7 series of mandrake, why not, and i doubt few others will post on the relic side....(unless you have a old pc that needs a pcmcia card, or eth0 connection...(like me)
