except for videos and the installer
|
As was the case with Xubuntu 12.04, the installer on the live CD was broken. Running from the boot led to a “system program problem detected” message followed by a crash, while running from live session gave another crash, this time with no report. The alternative (non-live, text-mode) installation disk worked perfectly. The installed system will work in 192MB.
The software included Chromium, Pidgin, Sylpheed mail, Mtpaint, Abiword, Gnumeric, and Audacious audio player, all of which were completely bug-free. Unfortunately, the same could not be said of Gnome-mplayer which wouldn’t play anything. In view of the problems I’d had with videos in Xubuntu, I didn't bother to try any other players.
If you use the alternative installer and don’t want to watch videos, this would be fine; otherwise, try Mint, Salix, or ZorinOS Light for LXDE.
