In short, I like it because it works and it's pretty fast. Somewhere between a bloated distro and a minimal distro.

Much improved wireless support for my Atheros based wireless card. An earlier release of Vector that I tried required me to actually go into wpa_supplicant to configure the stupid card. This version will configure the card from the VASM tools. However, I still had to reboot in order for the settings to take. Weird, but a piece of cake compared to the previous Vector I was using.

It's been a couple of months so my memory is a bit off, but I believe this is still using a curses based installer. Crude, but gets the job done.

Comes with KDE 3.x (3.5?) instead of the newer 4.x. I prefer the older version anyway. Had too many headaches with the newer version.

I'm using this OS mostly for surfing, email, and a game or two. Wine works nicely here too.

I'm a PCLinuxOS user, so I'm used to the Mandriva type system tools which I find superior to any others I've tried, but VASM does the trick too. I like having the system tools in under one menu heading. Too many other linuces I've used have tools scattered around different menus with no apparent rhyme or reason. Drives me crazy!

My system currently has:
Celeron 3Ghz CPU
4 Gigabytes of RAM (The system only sees about 2.5G)
Nvidia motherboard.

I like Vector enough to use it for my stable OS.

If you don't mind adding software from the repos after installation, give this a shot. I'd rather have only some software in place after install instead of too much.

Vector Light uses IceWM instead of a desktop and will run in 64MB with a 166MHz Pentium I. This is comparable to Tiny Core, but the result is far more friendly.
