Description: Debian Etch is the current Debian "testing" distrobution. It has newer packages than Sarge, but some of them may be unstable.

Pros: Stable, about 18000 (yes, eighteen thousand) packages to choose from,
Cons: not the most user friendly distro out there

I use the CD, as I don't have a fast connection. installation went well in both the text and the GUI install. One new feature, is everything required for a working deskop is on disk one, so that is all you need to set up a basic box.

The non-user friendly days of Debian I remember (or perhaps brought upon myself through habit) are over as far as I can tell. Debian Etch is a well rounded operating system choice, even for the desktop.
