Pros: Knoppix' hardware detection
Cons: Poor software

It looks and feels like Knoppix but it's far from being Knoppix.
It lacks many of the software Knoppix comes with, it has probably only around 35-40% of what Knoppix has.
Don't even think about OpenOffice or some movie player software (XMMS is present although).
The default kernel is a 2.4.22, KDE's version is 3.1.3.
Some of the items in the K menus won't even work, looks like they were put there only to fill in the space.
MonoDevelop, although it looks ok, hangs, especially when accesing MonoDoc. I wasn't able to do much with it. Maybe after an HD install it would perform better.
What seems to have kept from Knoppix is the hardware detection, although I tested it only on one machine. The sound and video card detected without problems, also the CDROM, the network was set up in 1 minute.
Overall, Monoppix is a pale "remix" of its father, Knoppix.
I'd say it's a better choice to download Mono and install it under your favourite distro rather than use Monoppix. That unless you will use Monoppix exclusively for programming (and listen to some music perhaps).
Therefore it gets an indulgently 6 out of 10.
