I have attempted to read other books concerning Linux, but this one was by far the easiest to understand. It is well written without so much technological speak, making it easy for the average windows user to understand.

Eight parts with 34 chapters cover everything form installing to optimising the system to working with multimedia, this book I feel is a must for those that would like to use SUSE. It comes with a version of 9.1 Professional that is easy to install and get working. Using the book as a guide, one can begin to understand and unleash the benefits of Linux, making the personal computer a more secure, more efficient tool.

Even though this is a great book, one should be cautioned that there is little in the way of understanding the technical jargon that is associated with Linux. The "Installing software" and working with the BASH Shell chapters are merely covered over with a light brushing of the subject almost loosing the reader. With the resources of the internet and sites like these however, one can easily overcome this minor issue.

All in all a great book and it is the one that converted me to Linux. A "Must Buy" for those struggling to get away from Windows to learn what their computer is all about.

Excellent for those of us just starting out and available at a good price-important if you are only toying with keeping linux.Still relevant to later versions of Suze.More detailed books are available, some by the same author but it will get you started.Covers most areas to some extent but short one troubleshooting, although the index is very readable for the novice who does n't know all the terminology.
