Over the last few years, Mandriva has become a commercial distribution for servers, and two projects have forked from it: Mageia and ROSA. OpenMandriva is a derivative of ROSA, and has no direct connection to Mandriva.
The disk offered a live session, installation, or installation in basic graphics mode. The live session left me in the command line because of a segmentation fault somewhere, probably in the video driver. The installer, even in the supposedly safe video mode, simply rebooted the computer. The forum shows several others who have been unable to use the disk. I tried the 32-bit version: perhaps the 64-bit one is better, but this looks like another distro which is not tested on a wide enough range of video systems.
