Description: "Canonical today announces the availability of Ubuntu 13.10 for desktop and smartphone. Ubuntu's first true mobile release delivers the streamlined core OS and mobile user interface that pave the way for full device convergence and create a unique platform for modern computing. Canonical is working with partners to bring Ubuntu smartphone devices to market in 2014. The desktop version of Ubuntu 13.10 reflects much of that progress, with scopes that organise home, apps, music, video content, lower device memory and graphics requirements and substantial improvements in battery and memory efficiency."
Keywords: Debian-based desktop smartphone ARM-architecture

Pros: Reliable, widespread acceptance, smooth
Cons: Unity desktop, privacy

Although Ubuntu does a lot for the acceptance of Linux at all kinds of govermental levels (e.g. 90.000 workstations used by the French Police) it's not my cup of tea.
For the reason of general acceptability, Canonical is not friendly to its userbase.
Then again, in the end, their bizz model is and will be favourable to all Linux users.

Pros: Easy to use, easy to install, easily adapts to most hardware
Cons: I don't really see any, but gammers may

the only downside it that most of the public who use computers are so used to windows being the standard, that they don't even realize there are alternatives, and so there are NOT enough people in this world using Linux to make a large enough impact on game manufactures and so they don't build to run in Linux native.

that may be good as well, because as Linux users we are somewhat more exclusive and NOT thought of as the NORM...that makes use special
