Now the separation from Fedora is complete, the range of programs available is quite small: if you need an email client, let’s hope you like Thunderbird. But this will obviously change with time.
Independence has also created a slight problem with the gpk software installer. This organises programs in categories, but the Fuduntu repository doesn’t use them. If you click on Office, you will be told there’s nothing available! The installer can only be used in search mode: search for ‘word processor’ and you have a choice of LibreOffice or Abiword.
Other than the independent repository, and the various updates, this version is much the same as the last: a very nice, if small, distro. I’d particularly recommend this for a beginner who just needs basic computer facilities.
