This is my third look at this distro: there is a gradual improvement, but still some way to go.
The installer still uses a command-line tool for partitioning, which will put many people off. Other than that, installation is simple and fast. The CD gives an Xfce desktop and a good selection of software.
The media codecs now work properly and Totem had no problems with videos.
The new problem is Icecat (= Firefox). Something is going wrong with the handling of cookies; with this site, as fast as I log in, I keep getting logged out again. There are also a few issues with the panel and its applets.
In view of this, I still can't recommend Zenwalk. If you want a good Slackware derivative, go for Salix.
