Description: "We are happy to announce the immediate availability of E17, Xfce, LXDE, SpinBase/OpenVZ, ServerBase Sabayon Linux 5.5 spins built on top of Sabayon SpinBase ISO images. The E17 stable-releases-are-for-n00bs desktop environment, the well-known Xfce and LXDE environments, the SpinBase + OpenVZ template ready to be used in server deployments, and, last but not least, ServerBase, a very minimal Sabayon release with a server-optimized Linux kernel."

Pros: Simple installation
Cons: Poor dependency management

The Xfce spin is not standard Sabayon with a different desktop: this is a very minimal installation, with Abiword, Midori, Xchat, and a picture viewer. No email client, no multi-media support!

For most people, this means a lot of downloads, and that's where the problems start. The graphical installer, Sulfur, is very slow and has a confusing user interface. The command-line tool, equo, is fast, but the repository system suffers serious dependency problems. Attempting to install any video player results in the download of several dozen unnecessary programs, such as Virtualbox and Ndiswrapper! Sabayon is for those who don't mind a lot of downloads and unrequested software.
