Description: "Today is very important for Linux Mint. It's one day to remember in the history of our project as we're about to maintain a new distribution, a rolling one, which promises to be faster, more responsive and with which we're less reliable on upstream components. Linux Mint Debian edition (LMDE) comes with a Debian base, which we transformed into a live media and on top of which we added a new installer. It's rougher and in some aspects not as user-friendly as our other editions, it's very young but it will improve continuously and rapidly."
Keywords: Debian-based live-media new-installer

Pros: Now based on Debian itself.
Cons: Still rough around the edges.

a good 1st attempt at bypassing the normal Ubuntu base.
further development is needed, and will occur later this year.

Lots of potential in this version of Mint.

Pros: Debian base, Linux Mint support/forum, rolling release
Cons: few rough edges

Asus MB - A7NVM400 , AMD Athlon XP 2800+, 1 GB Ram, nForce2 Ethernet Controller, RV350 AP [Radeon 9600], gnome, LMDE 32 bit
Recognized all the hardware, no problem.
Starts quickly for the age of the machine and shuts down very quickly.
Multimedia all worked - movies, Youtube, etc
Plan on using the 64 bit edition on a new build after the 1st of the year.

Also running in VirtualBox on an Acer 3102 laptop, AMD Sempron 3200+, 2 GB Ram, Linux Mint 9.
Takes a little while to load but once loaded it runs well; if running full screen I sometimes forget I'm in VirtualBox.

Problems, which have been minor, were easily fixed from help on the forums and a little terminal work.
