RPM with Perl was a let down
|
This book covers a lot of ground: background, usage, software juggling, inner workings, dependencies, building, and programming of RPM, the RPM Package Manager. It is much more up to date than Maximum RPM, but it has the advantage of being published in the Spring of 2003.
I was a little let down by the programming RPM with Perl section because the had written a previous book on Perl modules and I just love Perl. It is unfortunate that the Perl interface to RPM is not as complete as the C or Python interfaces.
If you work or play with RPMs, or just want to learn more about them, this is an excellent book to add to your collection.
