Description: "Should be 14.0 due to new kernel, new Xorg, new GCC, new GTK... but we follow Slackware versioning for compatability. Kernel is 2.6.33, Xorg is 1.7.5."

Pros: Easy to install and use
Cons: Limited range of software

Absolute Linux can be described as Slackware without the aggravation.

The creator, Paul Sherman, has produced a 2-CD package which contains a good selection of software for a family PC, and then added user-friendly installation and configuration programs. Extra programs can be installed from the Slackware repository using the package manager. The window manager is Icwwm.

This distro is also suitable for older computers; e.g. memory usage
Fedora running Gnome -311 MiB
Fedora running Icewm - 269 MiB
Absolute running Icewm - 151 MiB
