Description: I've noticed the other book posted for a linux+ certification, so i thought i would submit this one also, as it covers all the areas you need to focus on to achieve this certification, and these books released by Course.com are all authorized by CompTIA which is the company that gives these certifcations ...

so, if you are planning on taking this cert, i will also recommend this book to get Linux+ certified ....

the back of the book outlines the cert objectives and what to focus on primarly, the GNU Public License, and a wide range of very good Linux related websites that you could visit to attain more information ...

this book is packed with Redhat7.2, although not sure why since it was published in 2003  ... but hey, thats not why your getting the book, right ;)

Pros: Informative, Overall good structure, Great labs
Cons: Old Linux Distro (RedHat 7.2)

I actually had to use this book for an Advanced OS course in college. I still have it and find it useful (actually more so than the course I took).

For the inexperienced, the labs and discovery exercises are a good place to cut their Linux teeth. There is enough hands-on activity to get a good grasp of using the system.

This is a bit more of a personal opinion, but my biggest disappointment is that it had Red hat 7.2. It's a good/stable distro, but with the changes in Red Hat and the variety and stability of other distros, I think more updated options could be available.
