Pros: fast
Cons:

Sabayon 5.0 amd64 really flies, right out of the box on my msi k9 board. amd64 4600+ 1 gig ram 80 gig "tired" western digital ide drive. I like Slackware and always return to it as my main distro. Ubuntu and the others have their merits but slack suits me best. So far I am really enjoying Sabayon. I've been using it for a few days, both kde and gnome versions. gnome has proved the better for me. I usually use a lighter Desktop like xfce4 or fluxbox but gnome is working well enough. My dvdburner is dead and I had to install the dvd iso from the hard drive and got it going after doing a little reading. Sabayon would not install without passing acpi=off and noapic to the kernel line and vga=normal. I removed acpi=off and noapic after booting into the new system and It boots up okay and I can power down from the shutdown menu. the multimedia codecs were an added bonus. I do not like any windows versions, but I do like dvdflick to convert avi's and until now, have found only Slackware and slack offshoots to run this windows program with wine, without making a mess of the fonts. I have not really used the portage system much, I did install GoogleEarth with it, and it went okay. compiling gnubackgammon was easy, it went along without a hiccup. I haven't had a problem installing 32 bit software yet. Java and flashplayer 10 are already installed and work fine. I like Sabayon 5.0 so far. I did a gentoo install some years ago but do not have the patience for it now. Sabayon will probably hang around for a while on my box.
