This book did a better job of explaining things like classes and the basics of OOP, than either "The Dummies guide to Programming in C++" or whatever it was called and "Learn C++ in 21 Days"(?), the explanations were much clearer and the examples much better constructed. The solved problem format is a very good idea.
The last few chapters however seemed to be trying to cover too much, too quickly and hence lost me quite quickly, and repeatedly, despite many rereadings.
Good for giving you a basic grounding in C++, but needs to be supplemented with other texts, I'm currently working through Thinking in C++ by Bruce Eckel, which is freely downloadable, (just search for TICPP on google) but I would have struggled with it without first reading this book.
