OK, confirmed

a number of ways to 'get at it'

open synaptic --> Setting --> repositories --> additional drivers (tab)
OR
open "software centre" --> Edit --> Software sources.. --> additional drivers (tab)
OR
on terminal ( in X )

wait for a bit...

you could try

Code:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install -f
that will first update your package list, then it will try and fix any "install errors"

software center freezes after a while so tried terminal

Well the 6 is LTS ( Long Term Support ) so not a bad choice in that respect

I probably shouldn't have skipped that ( the && means it only runs if the last command did not throw out an error )

yeah, you have plenty of space
so something is screwey
seeing as you are looking to install ZorinOS 6 anyway...
no harm in trying the commands in the last post of that thread I linked earlier.

yea tried them, didnt recognise clean?
then gave error E:read error
