hard disk problems detected
 
just installed os 6 64 bit and all seems great, wifi works too. but
after reboot before i installed the wifi driver i get the following error
Hard disk Problems detected a hard disk is reporting health problems

it pops up about 50 times an hour

any help appreciated

Those messages are probably generated by SMART and you do have to take a look at your HD.

If you have a GUI set up then you could use Disk Utility (zoom in on SMART status / SMART Data).

From the command line you can use smartctl (as root user):

smartctl -a /dev/sdX
replace X with the appropriate letter. The output can be long, but possible errors/warnings should be detailed.

any way to repair or is it a new drive?

You need a new drive. They can only be repaired in a clean room, and that's more costly than a new drive.
