Can't login to Zorin OS 7, no username or password available
I am trying to use the live version for Zorin OS 7 core 32, and thanks to this forum have corrected a few mistakes I made while burning the software. Now I bring this issue in which I need help: I can't login in because it asks for username and password, but there's no setup process as found (for example) in SUSE 11.0. I have tried different combinations of the ideas mentioned in the similar threads finder, no results achieved. Can anyone shed a little light on this problem? Is there any site with instructions? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

I don't know for sure
since zorin is just another Ubuntu copy, try username: live password:<just hit enter > |
@rokytnji: Tried your advice (enter/return key twice), no results. Checked the three links you provide, the one ending in 2054 is a most useful guide but provides no help for the problem. Also followed the link to "get familiarized with these courses"; excellent reading material, still no results. I have used other Linux live versions, ubuntu, suse and mint but have never seen a situation like this.
@Firerat: Tried username(s) blank, live, Live, live user, Live User, liveuser; Tried password(s) blank, password, Password... Various combinations, no results. This is so basic that it borders on the ridiculous!! Please help!! ---------- Post added 08-23-13 at 06:52 PM ---------- @rokytnji: Tried your advice (enter/return key twice), no results. @Firerat: I have followed your instructions EXACTLY as you posted them; I know the meaning of blank. I would like to know what you consider I am doing wrong, because your instructions couldn't be simpler... Still waiting for an answer.

@Firerat: No matter what combination I try, the answer is always the same: "Invalid password, please try again". AM I really the only one having this situation?

Md5sum checked on downloaded iso? Might be a corrupted download. That would be the reason you are the only one on this world with that problem. Just explaining.

Caps lock?

MD5 checksum verified, download matches correct MD5. No caps lock. Any other suggestions?

reboot
with a livecd I have to jump through hoops to get to a point where I need a password |
Hi Mokoyombi,
If you have booted a Zorin OS Live DVD and it asks you for a username and password before going to the desktop, this is a sign of a corrupt disc. We would recommend you to try burning Zorin OS to a new, blank DVD at the slowest speed or burning it to a USB thumb drive using UNetbootin (http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/). Best of luck! |

I am a team member of 2 Linux distros and download and beta test unfinished releases so I kinda have to md5sum and double check every little thing before giving feed back on what works and does not work on the distros I am a team member of. So if AZorin says its so. I'd listen to him. |

@AZorin: Followed your suggestion, used UNetbootin and tried booting from a USB, the computer gives me a message "No configuration file found" and "No DEFAULT or UI configuration directive found!" (see attached photo). This is happening with both Zorin 6.3 and Zorin 7 so I understand it is a problem with my computer. I donīt understand what this message means; any other suggestions? Your advice on the corrupt disk has been most helpful, now I just have to wait for my local provider to have more DVDs available (temporary back order). Thank you again for your interest/help with this situation!!

There are some suggestions for solutions at the Ubuntu site below. They seem to be specifically for Dell. You haven't indicate what type machine you are using?

all old answers wrong
I don't know when this changed, but the online Zorin docs are wrong, as are the answers in this thread for recent Zorins. I needed to test for some inxi research. The iso issue is irrelevant, I'm booting off the iso in vm, so there was no question about a bad burn.
After trying every possible combination, I thought to myself, ok, what other clever login could they do? So I typed in as login name: zorin and the login happened, no password needed. I needed to login because the desktop hung/crashed, and I needed to get to console F1 to do some root things to get it to work so I could run my tests. So this updates this thread, the current as of 2018 username to live cd is zorin, and it just logs you in without password as soon as you type it in. I hope this helps someone out there. |
