xine can't play avi(xvid), flv

I use zenwalk 6.2, installed xine from zenwalk package repo.
xine can't play flv (only audio), totally can't play .avi(xvid).

The strange thing is the same flv files and avi files that I have can be played slackware 12.0 using older version of xine !!
2.using totem player

But the totem player doesn't want to play dvd, while xine does.
WTF?? this is the end of 2009...and just to play video in linux still a complicated problem

Even on that slackware 12.0 I don't use essential binary codecs from mplayer.

Any thought?
