Problem with ndiswrapper, please help
 

Hey all. On any distro I use I end up using ndiswrapper to connect to the net through my WLAN card. It works pretty well on any distro that comes with gcc or has the module and utils packaged with it in some way. I didn't even realize Yoper came with it at first (2.1.0-4), so at first I just tried installing from source (I always keep an ndiswrapper tarball on my spare hard drive) and it did not work. I dug around and discovered that the module was already present, and was joyed to surmise that I would just have to modprobe for it or insmod.

That's where I met my downfall. Everytime I try to get the module running, everything instantly freezes/hangs. I did it out of KDE (runlevel 3) to see what more I could see, and I found that it does two little steps towards running fine and then all of a sudden it spits this out:
As soon as that appears on the screen (as it does every single time without fail) I know that there's nothing I can do except hold the power button until my system shuts off. I know that what's being described is my card. What I don't know is why this is happening, and I was hoping someone else would be able to help me out with it.

Anybody have anything on this? A fix or some other sort of workaround? I looked at various documentations and I haven't stumbled across a way to fix it (and of course I am just stumbling, as I've never had a problem like this before and I don't where to start).

Gah, once again I spoke too soon and solved my own problem. I downloaded the kernel source and put it on my other drive. Installed that into Yoper, removed the original ndiswrapper.ko file and then recompiled from ndiswrapper-0.6 (which is pretty much the most reliable version I've used, ever). Modprobe had no problem loading that one. Works like a charm now, I can use Yoper all I'd like.
