Installing Yoper without Burning ISO Image?
 

Ok, well, I decided that it was about time I tried out Linux. I first downloaded Slackware, burned it to a CD, then tried to install it but failed miserably. I posted in a forum and someone said I was way over my head with Slackware, they told me to try Yoper. So, I downloaded Yoper a couple days ago, and repeatedly tried to burn it but it seems my CD Drive has died. So, I was wondering, is there any other way I can install Yoper on my harddrive? It would be great if someone could help.

What have you got on your hard drive at the moment? What other components to your system? You're gonna have to install from somewhere... ;)

What do you mean by "What have you got on your Hard drive at the monent?". Like OS wise? Only Windows. Err, I have 20 GB Space, about 10 of that used up. 500MHz PIII and uhh 128mb RAM(Yes, I do realize how craptastic my computer is). Umm, I have a CR-R/RW and a DVD drive and a 3.5" Floppy Drive. If that's what you meant by Components. Oh, and uhh my harddrive is FAT32.

Actually, I was just thinking, you're probably best off buying an install CD from one of the usual suppliers, e.g.

Prices vary a bit, and I know that some suppliers financially support open source development projects, so those should be preferred! I don't know whether there are suppliers that lq.org recommends/give lq.org a cut of the profits.

Alternatively, get a friend to burn you the install CD. As long as you can read and boot from your CD drive, or read and boot CDs in your DVD drive, you're fine. (have you checked this?)

Edit: Remember http://www.google.com and Froogle (same url).

Your CD drive is neccessary and you need it anyway. So I think that you should buy it and burn it your way.

Tried plenty of copies of Slackware, different types of month, reinstalled OS again (Win) , used differet burning prog and Slackware always fails, well before it would isntall but this time just fail . Hopefully Yoper comes out with a net-installer

you can install yoper if your currently using a linux distro. its not possible to install linux from within windows.
