I am a new to Vector as well. More or less it is just Slackware stripped down, from there it depends on witch Vector you use. I use the soho version it works for my desktop witch has 2gig of memory and my local storage/print server with 64 megs of ram. So yes to answer your question, and it is versitile as well.

Oh and by the way it has some nice up-to-date gui tool, but it also has the good old counsol tools it inherits from Slackware. I use Slackwares main package site to update, this creates a coulpe of dependancy problems but nothing that could be fixed in 1/2 hour.
