Monitor turns off, after instalation

Hello ;

I just installed Vector Linux on my computer, but here's the problem I'm having :

It starts well, does the tests and all, and gets me to the login screen. Once it gets me there, the monitor automatically turns off, leaving me no time to do anything, I cannot even log in. I cannot turn it on, I cannot even reboot the system.

any ideas of what could be causing this ?

thanks.

If the login screen you are referring too is the graphical login screen, then try:

Code:

CTRL+ALT+F1
this should bring you to a console which will allow you to login in a shell.
If this does work, the problem is probably your gfx driver.
Please post the output of:

dmesg

&

/var.log/xorg.log or perhaps namd /var.log/xorg.0.log

try CTRL+ALT+PLUS(+) to change the resolution and after pressing thet a couple of times it you should see a big login screen login open up a terminal and type :

init 3

it should logout and go to a terminal if you can type ther then type this if it doesnt let u type ther press CTRL+ALT+ f1,f2,f3,f4,orf5 (out of the F1/2/3 buttons at the top of the keyboard) it should ask you to login,
login and type:

vxconf

thats to configure your screen and mouse go through it and it theres an option to autoconfigure select that one and when ur finished type:

startx

if all goes well your resolution should be fine. if not...... fuck you so sadly try to do the same and in vxconf try to configure it urself and see if that works

but this should fix the screen problem all in all hopefully

What kind of monitor and video card do you have? Which version of Vector did you install?
