Emacs -- no keyboard in tty or xterm

I've just recently installed VectorLinux light on an older system; also installed Emacs using slapt-get.

Emacs works in X11, but when I launch it in either a tty or in an xterm (using the -nw switch), the keyboard does not respond. I can't type anything or issue any commands.

If I kill emacs from another terminal/tty, everything I tried to type is printed to the terminal, so it's like all the keyboard input is being buffered somewhere until emacs quits.

Does anyone know what's up with this?

I'm not sure. You may wish to post at http://forum.vectorlinux.com/ They're quite helpful there.

Meh... I'm not that committed to vector. Thanks for the tip.
