xubuntu firefox broken


The firefox installation that comes with xunbutu seem broken.

For example: Tools->Clear Private Data or Edit->Preferences

gets me an XML parsing error.

I removed the default installation that came with Ubuntu, and downloaded the latetest Firefox binary and installed it. That got rid of all my issues.
