Xubuntu 8.04.1i - Can't logon after install

Hello Everyone!

I can't figure out why Xubuntu won't allow me to logon after my install.

I put it on an R51 Thinkpad Notebook without any problem, and I'm looking at the logon screen right now... however when I type in the username and password I gave it during install it tells me "Incorrect username and password." This is my 5th reinstall today encountering the same problem each time.

I'm downloading a more recent version of Xubuntu right now, and will be giving that a go as soon as its finished burning. I would just like to know why its failing.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks!

Linux is case sensitive. Is there any possibility you used a shift in either the user ID or the password? It should work if there are no mismatches, including case. Take note of the shift of the keyboard after the system boots up. Look for a light on the keyboard to let you know if you are in lower, or upper case.

Yea, unfortunately this was one of the reasons I retried 5 times. I second guessed myself and reinstalled several times, I was very particular to take note of the case in both scenarios. Bizarre isn't it?
