XGL in Kubuntu edgy with an opensource driver, anyone???

Has anyone had any success in getting XGL working in Kubuntu Edgy with opensource OpenGL drivers??? I want to try getting that working... I tried out that live-CD that had issues with GPL license conflict for releasing the proprietary video drivers for nVidia and ATI before it was taken offline... I liked it very much.

I would like to duplicate the setup in my current Kubuntu Edgy install. I have the latest Compiz foound in the Universal repositories and some other stuff, but would like to get the fancy effects going...

I'd like to hear some success stories and some tips on how to do it relatively painlessly.

I assume Kubuntu uses Xorg 7.1. If so, you shouldn't need XGL to run compiz. You should be able to just enable the aiglx module in xorg.conf and then you can run compiz on aiglx.

Alternatively, if you install the new Nvidia Beta drivers, you don't need XGL or AIGLX (this is how my Debian box at home runs).

I made changes in my xorg.conf, but it doesn't seem to have changed anything in KDE. Is there a place where I can get detailed info on AIGLX?
