Not that I don't believe you, but I'm sure it says more than that. Any line that starts with (EE) would be very helpful.

Lightbulb

It gives me a box (made form letters) that says it won't start and it asks if i want to see the details. That's it. Nothing else

Code:
nano -w /var/log/Xorg.0.log
Try that at the command line after X fails to start. Scroll to the bottom and work your way back up looking for errors. If that commands doesn't work because you don't have nano installed just try another editor like
Code:
vi /var/log/Xorg.0.log
