Wireless connection

I have a Acer Aspire 5100 laptop dual boot, XP & Ubuntu 7.10 and can not get the wireless to work. It works fine on XP boot but not when in Ubuntu?

This is a total different problem, I did get it working on 7.10 but as soon as I updated to 8.04 all info on wireless system disappeared, there is not even any in the network information area? Sorry if you thought it was the same question.
