Wireless Adapter Troubles, Compaq Evo n400c wlan w200

Hi, following this guide: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/WifiDocs/Dev...ght=%28w200%29 I got the wireless adapter working on my laptop. But after a bad restart it fails to work. I find out that also due to this bad reboot I can't just recompile the file. I get the following error:

Makefile:8: *** Kernel tree not found - please set KERNEL_PATH. Stop.

Any help would be apprieciated.

Also.. ifup ifdown commands don't work either.. it seems that once I get a bad reboot all history of this adapter ceases to exist.

Googling your error message (!), I find that it looks like the problem is that you don't have a kernel source installed that matches your running kernel, which you need to build kernel modules. Typing the command

Code:

uname -r

will tell you the name of your current kernel (mine is 2.6.12-10-386), and you can hunt down the matching kernel source.

I can't help you beyond that, though there are lots of people on this forum who can, but at least it might get you started.
