Install the w32-codecs. Read this in the Ubuntu wiki. It tells you how to install them.

Thanks! I've installed the codecs but am unsure what to do next. Does this just enable mplayer to p[ay .wmv files or is it a whole new program? How do I call it up?

Thanks,

ab
