Wesnoth 0.9.5 in Hoary? How to install?
Does anyone know how to install Wesnoth 0.9.5 in Hoary other than compiling from source?
I have it on my Debian box and it is a great game, but you can't play online unless you use version 0.9.5. Debian was no problem as it is in Sid. Wondering if maybe it is in a Breezy repository. But I do not want to screw up my laptop installing from Breezy if I do not have to. |
Crap just checked Breezy and its not there. Guess it's time to compile. :)
I thought Ubuntu was bledding edge like Debian Sid? |
No one using Ubuntu plays Battle for Wesnoth? You should it is a great game.
Anyway here is what I had to do to get it installed in Ubuntu Hoary. Ended up compiling and installing from source. Had to install the required SDL packages using Synaptic. Then downloaded freetype2.1 , had to compile it; no biggie. After that the config went ok. Make seemed to take forever, and by forever I mean over an hour. Ran make install. Opened wesnoth and poof it was able to connect to the online game server. Took about an hour and a half, with running Synaptic, the downloads and the two compiles. But it was worth it. Wesnoth rocks, now if I could only not get my butt kicked every time I play online. |
Have you expanded your sources to include the universe and multiverse repositories?
Ubuntu Guide repositories I'm pretty sure I have Wesnoth on my Ubuntu installation and I got it via Synaptic... Haven't played yet though... How is it? :) |
