VMWare not installing
i have downloaded VMWare 64bit bundle to install on my Ubuntu machine. how ever its not installing.
This is the command I tried: chmod +x VMWare-Workstation-6.5.0-118166.i386.bundle and i was then going to type this command: ./VMWare-Workstation-6.5.0-118166.i386.bundle. if there is another way or if im doing something wrong please help me. |
you were going to type that command? what stopped you? you know you've not actually said anything about it not working...
I take it you paid for the download from VMware and got full instructions on using it? Not a torrent..? |
i downloaded the evaluation edition.
chmod +x VMWare-Workstation-6.5.0-118166.i386.bundle didnt work but ive found out why. i was in the wrong directory. iv now got that to work but now when i type ./VMWare-Workstation-6.5.0-118166.i386.bundle i am told: No such file or directory |
hmm, yeah sorry about that.
right, so you're in the wrong directory. download's often go to the Desktop directory by default so you may need to cd to Desktop first. |
iv manage to install it but now my issue is installing windows XP on. how do i go about it?
|
you really need to read some docs. I'm sure there's a wizard that takes you through creating your own VM's and then you just boot to the windows CD within the VM and proceed like any other normal installation
|
thanks guys for your patience. ive managed to sort it out.
|
is there any other way of getting hold of the activation code from VMware? i requested the code for the 30 day trial version and was told id receive an e-mail with it.....ive got nothing. how can i get it?

ask again and make sure you give a valid email address. Personally unless you genuinely do want to explore the Workstation product itself, you're much better off with the free player or server products.
