ViewSonic E70 Monitor

Dear All...Greetings
Just finished my installation of Ubuntu 5.10. Everything was alright after I tested the liveCD. The problem is that the resolution for my display is only stating 640x480 reslotion & 60Hz refresh rate. It was working well on the liveCD session @ 1280x768. How Can I solve this. I am tring to migrate to ubuntu but the display is giving me a really hard time to resize & get to the bottom of a displayed window... Help pls. for this newbie....
Thanx 4 all the effort

If it is anything like Debian then it set the refresh rate ranges too low on install try using sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg in a console window having the ranges supported by the monitor handy choosing the advanced option. You would enter in the ranges when asked in the dialog making sure that the highest resolution you want to have is selected when you get to that screen. You would then logout and at the login screen use the Left Control + Left ALT + Backspace keys at the same time to kill off and respawn the X server.
