using cdrom as bootloader?

I am trying to find anyone or anywhere, that i cant get information on using a cdrom as the boot loader, ie like it was floppy boot...
machine has no floppy drive and i want linux to boot off cdrom with rest of os on HD...
Any ideas...I know there is no reason why it shouldnt but cant find any thing that would help me work out the configuration of it...
