Updating to KDE4 in Kubuntu 7.10 - Graphic Card Problem?!

Hi!

1. First off all I always had this problem on the login screen for KDE that the fonts show gigantic, so big that they do not fit in the screen. I always ignored that as after login everything runs smooth.

2.I was really amazed with KDE4 so I tried to update my kubuntu to KDE4 following the instructions in the Kubuntu official site but as a result I got doubled items in my KMEMU (when login in in the old KDE), two "System Settings" and KDE appears to ignore the new one.

3. The BIG (literally!) problem is when I login in KDE4 the whole computer works in the gigantic fonts which uses in the login screen and is just impossible to do anything or to even see what's going on. Web browsers, system settings, just everything is gone gigantic. Its impossible to even get to system settings to try change something...

Any idea what I might be doing wrong? How to get the system to incorporate the new settings and understang my display? And (not so important but...) how to get rid off the repeated items?

BTW KDE4 is just so cool, really! I can't wait to get it working.

Thanks

/i

I tried a lot of the things I found in google and this one worked:

add
Option "DDC" "no" in xorg.conf

This fixed the login screen as well as KDE4 itself. Still had problems when I opened System Settings in KDE4 - it expanded itself to the whole screen and doesn't show the usual 'minimise' 'resize' 'close' controls on the top left of the window. Other programs work normal. I writing this using Firefox in KDE4.

Hi! I think not much interest in KDE 4 in this part of the forum! I've a few more things to note about KDE 4 but I think it's no longer exclusive to Ubuntu so I'm starting a thread in "Linux-General" called Moving to KDE 4. I'll try post all the +'s and -'s as I discover them. But to cut it short KDE really impressed.

Vanya, I tried KDE4 and didn't have much success ... seemed more than a little broken, I'll be waiting a few more weeks yet ... perhaps after 8.04 settles down?
