Updating PostgreSQL

I've installed via apt-get PostgreSQL package, release 7.4.1, iirc. Is there any alternative method for upgrading to 8.1 or 8.2 other than starting with the source? The Postgres site only had rpms for RH and FC.

thx

Bob

You could compile from source and create your own .deb package with checkinstall. Just get checkinstall (apt-get install checkinstall). Then when you compile do ./configure, make, and "checkinstall -D" instead of make install.

Sorry for the bump - but if I'd looked at Adept (Package Manager) in the first place, all of the upgrades are right there! Sweet, really sweet.

Never could configure the source - problems with readline and zlib...
