Universe Repositories


How do I install the 'universe repositories' for Kubuntu?

The easy way or the hard way?

The easy way: http://www.source-o-matic.com

The hard way: (isn't really hard)

kdesu kwrite /etc/apt/sources.list

Then remove the comment (the # symbol) in front of the line for the universe repository (while you're at it you might also want to enable multiverse).

There are plenty of websites that exist to help you. Remember, Google is your friend.

Well, Duchy, I did it the 'hard' way since the link didn't seem to work. I just the preceding # and space. So theoretically, its enabled. Oh-I was told by some program to activate these, what are they?

After you change the sources.list file you have to update the package list, you can do this several ways:
In Adept Package Manager;
Just click the "Fetch Updates" button in the top left
In Konsole/command line, run;
sudo apt-get update

After that, you should be able to install all the packages from universe you want.
