ok i downloaded Ubuntu 9.04 using Wubi ... so i am running both Vista and now Ubuntu 9.04

i have an Asus laptop and the wireless card is Intel Pro/Wireless 4965 AG or AGN

when using Ubuntu i can connect wired but unable to connect wireless even though the network manager is detecting my wireless network

i try to connect and after a while of trying it times out prompting me for my wireless information and even when i type it in it still tries but fails to connect and prompts me again

i am using WEP 128-bit security and i am using a Linksys router

does anyone know how to resolve this issue ... other than this so far Ubuntu is ok ... i like to keep my wireless secure so any known solution ??

I can appreciate that you want to keep your wireless secure, but for the purposes of testing can you not disable it momentarily to see if Ubuntu will connect. If it does connect then you know the issue is to do with inputting the key in Ubuntu.

When you input your keys to the LinkSys box, pay attention to which flavor of key you provide. Keys may be hexadecimal [0-9][a-f][A-F],
or printable character strings, or a pass phrase. While these may read the same, they are different under the bonnet.

Likewise when you provide the key value to network manager or wicd, make sure that you are providing whatever it is that your LinkSys wants.

Blushing -- I tripped over this issue and fought it for a couple of hours before I realized that "cad0face" was both hex and string.
