When you input your keys to the LinkSys box, pay attention to which flavor of key you provide. Keys may be hexadecimal [0-9][a-f][A-F],
or printable character strings, or a pass phrase. While these may read the same, they are different under the bonnet.
Likewise when you provide the key value to network manager or wicd, make sure that you are providing whatever it is that your LinkSys wants.
Blushing -- I tripped over this issue and fought it for a couple of hours before I realized that "cad0face" was both hex and string.
