Ubuntu problems...

Hello everyone-
I'm about to partition my pc (now running xp), and I'm going to install ubuntu 8.4 Does anyone know of any problems I might run into?
Thanks.

No way to answer that with out knowing your hardware.

As long as your computer is not running hardware that was released recently (as in last few weeks) you should be just fine. Typical the biggest problems with new Linux installations is you need a newer driver then is available in the software repository.

While not a 100% guarantee everything will work, if you can boot the Ubuntu live cd with out issues then you should be able to install the OS with out a problem

Definitely back up important stuff before doing anything, in case something goes wrong (not saying it will, but it's better to be safe than sorry).

I run a defrag and then turn off the swap file before resizing an NTFS patition. (Turn swap file back on afterwards.)
