Hello.
I recently installed ndiswrapper with the GUI on Ubuntu 7. It says driver, hardware present, so I go to the configure network. I have a linksys wireless G, so I click wireless properties. I add in my Network name and its password, but I still can't connect?
Also, the network is hosted on windows with the default windows encryption.
can anybody help me?
thanks

I don't understand what this means. Are you trying to do an ad-hoc computer to computer connection or are you trying to connect to a wireless access point?
What is "default windows encryption"? Is your router setup using WEP? WPA? something else? Is it plain text? ASCII?
try this - at a prompt, run:
sudo ifconfig
does that give anything back relating to "wlan0"
if yes, do this:
sudo iwlist wlan0 scanning
does that give anything back? If so, do you see your SSID in there? If yes, you check your settings re: encryption type. If no, do you see any wireless networks (assuming there are others within range)? If no, the driver did not get installed correctly.
Doing ifconfig
gave me 'lo'
and iwlist said lo coudn't be scanned
But...
I did ndiswrapper -l
and that told me the driver was installed and the hardware was present.
Also, I'm using the driver from ndiswrapper's list
Oh.
Also, I did the following
Downloaded the 3 files mentioned in the Ubuntu wiki
installed them like it says
gone to system-administration-Windows Wireless Drivers
Clicked install driver
installed my .inf file, it says driver installed, hardware present.
Did I skip something?
