ubuntu java
Ok im completely new to linux and have recently installed ubuntu. I have used synaptic to download and instal the latest version of java but when i go into firefox and try and load a page with firefox it says i dont have the java plugin installed?:S Any help ideas to fix this.

Sure ... use synaptics to install the plugin as well. If there is no such thing
try to create a symlink from /<path>/<to>/<java>/jre/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so to /<path>/<to>/firefox/plugins Cheers, Tink P.S.: Shuffling this over to the Ubuntu forum for better exposure. |

It's a symbolic link. Like the things on the windows desktop with a
little arrow pointing at the original file, just better ;} man ln for details... Cheers, Tink |
