Ubuntu installation diables USB ports

I'm switching from Fedora 8 to Ubuntu. i got the CD burn and working. but when i select the INSTALL option on the main page it will only bring me to the Busy Box page, and then disables my USB Ports, which my Keyboard and mouse are plugged into (DUH!) then after about maybe 15-20 minutes it brings me to a black screen, USB ports still aint working exept in here, Fedora 8.

Any Help?

Which version of Ubuntu are you trying to install ?
What are you're hardware spec ?
Keyboard and mouse are they directly connected to USB ?
Or are you using a USB HUB ?

its an older PC, meets and passes the recommended requirements.
IDE 250GB Hard drive
Nevidia GeForce 2 MX Graphics Card
1 GB of DDR1 Memory
999 Mhz Intel CPU (un Known Name)
un-known Asus Mobo

That PC was top-of-the-line about 10 years ago.

The USB mouse and keyboard are plugged directly into the USB slots in the back of the tower.

I have the latest version of Ubuntu, just burned yesterday: 9.04 Desktop edition.

Should i go to Cent OS 5.3 instead?

As you do not give as any error message , whe do not know what is going wrong

Apart from that if you like to stick with UBUNTU try the alternate version of UBUNTU

Af course you also can try Centos

Have you tried legacy usb settings in your bios? If not, give that a try.
