Ubuntu install doesnt see keyboard?
 

I have a live CD of Ubunti 7.01 I think. (forgive me for the lack of specifics, Im at work and am working off memory of last night) I boot a barebones PC with a blank formatted hard drve to the CD and I get the ubuntu splash page. I get the options of installing or running, manufacture install, cd driver install, safe VGA install, boot to HD or something else. There are options on the bottom like keyboadr mapping, help, options, and a few others. OK, here is the problem. I choose install and it flashes a screen that says something like CPU timer not installed...very quicklyl like maybe 1-2 seconds and then goes to the ubuntu with the back and forth moving orange bar, looks like its installing. then it goes to a command prompt like BASH (?) and it says something like shell.Oh, me memory i failing! It then brings me to a flashing prompt that says "type help for available commands". OK here it comes. I try to type anything and I get nothing up on the monitor, as of the keyboard is unplugged. I cant to a CTrl/alt/del to reboot, I cant even see the cap lock light up, nothing. This is a standard keyboard, not USB (I even tried one of those with USB keyboard support turned on in BIOS) nothing seems to work. The keyboard works fine until that screen and then nothing, as if the entire PC has locked up (maybe?) I have to manually reset the PC to start the process over. Any thoughts on this? Is this a PC issue? I have tried the keyboard mapping (it was on US) Im stumped. AS a clue, I cant install XP on this either as it hangs on that blue screen that says installing windows. Maybe hardware, eh? Thanks

Sounds like a hardware issue, if its effecting Ubuntu and Windows. Not being smart, but When using the USB/PS2 adapter, you are putting it in the keyboard USB port, and not the mouse PS2 port. I've had probs getting USB keyboards to work, but the USB/PS2 adapters have always done the trick.
