Ubuntu File Browser crash when burning ISO to CD
 

Hello everyone, I'm new here.

I have an odd problem that has never happened to me previously and I'm not exactly sure how to go about correcting it.

I'm trying to burn a copy of Hiran's BootCD to a disk, every time I drag the ISO file to the disk folder, click "write to disc" then "Burn contents" (To burn the contents of the iso instead of saving it as a file on the disk). After this, All of the folders I have open crash and close. I checked my syslog and found it was returning this every time this happened:

Does anyone know what is causing this? I regard myself as being decently computer savvy but this has me stumped.

Sounds pretty strange.

Have you tried just right clicking on the ISO file and selecting the option to open in your favorite burner? I would assume that you are using Brasero.

This would be a lot easier on Nautilus.

Have you tried opening Brasero and then selecting the file from the Tile menu in Brasero? I would open brasero from terminal so you get all the possible messages about its opening and use. This could be done with Nautilus closed.

I ask this because the crash is a defensive crash of Nautilus in response some fault in Brasero judging from your error.

We can't be sure that it is Brasero to blame. The interaction with Nautilus is obviously not great however.

I can't say I am surprised, Gnome has become kind of a modern software version of the Edsel. Brasero has a reputation for problems (I never had any with it and still install it on my OS's). Nautilus is being developed into extinction.

The only other thing I would suggest is to install xfburn and use it. This will drag in very few depends and is, in my opinion, the most reliable burner out there with a gui. One of the main reasons I switched to Xfce.

You might also want to retry your method of burning but open Nautilus from terminal to do so. This will, again, give you a better documentation of any problems right there on the terminal.
